One "novelization" of the animated film gave the names "Pandy", "Growly" and "Fatty" in lieu of Lucky, Patch and Rolly respectively oddly, a different character was given the name "Lucky" in this version. The names "Rover" and " Spotty" are occasionally used by fans to refer to the two puppies Sergeant Tibbs talks with when he enters Hell Hall. Twenty-six of the eighty-four rescued puppies were also named for promotional toys: The book Lucky Puppy, published in association with the animated film, also listed the following puppies: In said draft, Pongo also narrates how after Roger, Anita, Nanny and the Dalmatians find a place in the country, Perdita has another litter of 12. The Disney DVD describes them as having the "smallest spots of all".Īccording to an early draft of the film, there would have also been puppies called Itchy and Spook, with Rolly being called Roly-Poly, as he is in the novel. Penny was scheduled to appear in the animated TV series as a major character (Dainty Penny, along with Patch), but she was later dropped. Some sources state, she and Patch are never apart, so it's speculated that Penny could be the "animated" form of Cadpig. Penny has very small spots all over her body, including her ears.
Penny - Female puppy that appears only once, sitting quietly at her father's feet. Rolly - A plump pup whom always expresses when he's hungry. Lucky - He, however, inherites the character traits of Cadpig from the novel. He is the most verbal pup in the animated films. Patch - A noisy and rowdy pup, often seen chewing on the carpet. In the animated adaptation of the book, Pongo and Perdita were the parents of the fifteen puppies. It is never confirmed that she was one of them, but she lives with the Dearlys, so it's presumed she is. Of the 82 rescued puppies, only Gay is named. It is known that there were eight boys and seven girls in the litter. As the runt of the litter she was dubbed "the cadpig", which is a runty pig, and the name stuck. Cadpig - A female puppy known for her spotted ears and small stature. Lucky - A male pup who seems to be the ring leader amongst his siblings. He is considerably the largest of Missis' Litter and has a close connection to Cadpig. Patch - A male pup born with a black patch on his eye (whilst Dalmatians are supposed to be born pure white). Only four of Pongo and Missis' fifteen puppies are named: Pongo's bark is later given to Toby from "The Great Mouse Detective".In the original book and its sequel The Starlight Barking, Pongo, Missis, Perdita and Prince are the four eldest Dalmatians. Also, some of their growls and snarls are recycled sound effects from Old Yeller when he was fighting the wolf. Pongo and Perdita. If you listen closely, when Pongo and Perdita attack Jasper and Horace, their growls and snarls sound like Tramp's. To save them, he teams up with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofyto search the ship to find them and discover which villain committed the crime. Here, Pongo's puppies are once again stolen. Pongo is also featured in the Disney Cruise Line interactive game Midship Detective Agency. Pongo also has his own spell card called "Pongo's Soot Bucket". In this attraction, Pongo communicates with the park guests through barks translated by Merlin. Here, Pongo serves as the guide for the mission to defeat Cruella on Main Street USA and teams up with the park guests and Merlin the Wizard in a quest to stop Cruella from retrieving part of the crystal of the Magic Kingdom. Pongo has a prominent role in the Walt Disney World interactive game Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. At Walt Disney World Resort's Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, an oversized statue of Pongo can be seen at the 101 Dalmatians section of the hotel. Pongo makes no live appearances at the parks, but holds a few tributes.
Pongo was happy and sweet to his puppies, because he likes to make his children glad, without making them upset.
Pongo is extremely clever, and is usually the one to make the plans that help his family, such as disguising the entire group as Labradors to avoid detection. In comparison to Perdita, Pongo is the more laid-back parent, but remains to protect their children. Afterwards, he becomes a loving husband to Perdita and a carefree father to their puppies. He cares deeply for Roger, going so far as to find Roger a wife so that they may leave their boring bachelor life behind. Initially, Pongo is the loyal pet of Roger Radcliffe.
